According to the Directory of Randolph County, 1910 M.M. Carter was listed as age 47, a planter, a native of Arkansas, married Mazie Esselman in 1888. The couple had three children, Lucile, Fern, and Catherine. Carter owned 1,000 acres of river bottoms along with town property. He was Catholic.
