Pocahontas Hardware Store

This is a photo of the interior of the Pocahontas Hardware Store. This store was located at the corner of Marr and Everett Streets. The building remains today.  George Promberger Sr. operated this business for many years. Notice the well stocked shelves in this photo.  Of particular interest are the assortment of stoves to the left in the photo. Further to the left you can see several saddles and the shelves on the left of the photo are well stocked with housewares. If you look on the counter near the man setting on the counter you will notice the telephone.  The back of this photo indicates that it was taken around 1940 but it appears to have been earlier based on merchandise and other factors in the photo.

Mr. Promberger is pictured second from the left in the tie. Others in the photo include A. Z.  Schnabaum is seated on the counter to the right and on the left is store employee Bob Kelley. The two young men are unidentified.
